About Us

Not your typical “consultants.”

About Us

What makes us different from other consulting firms? We’re seasoned professionals and entrepreneurs—not career “consultants”—with decades of hands-on experience running our own business operations and making our clients successful. Our experience allows us to do what others can’t—look at your business holistically.

We’ve been there on the front lines: writing and executing award-winning business plans and marketing plans, developing standalone and web-based applications to solve complex business needs or to deliver exceptional customer experiences, and raising millions in funding from angel and venture capital investors. We’ve played a key role in generating billions of dollars in revenue.

We’re always growing so we can help others grow, and we’ve acquired a wealth of knowledge over the years that we’re happy to share. Our passion is helping businesses become great successes—helping them transform into something more.

The bottom line: we know what it means to be “in business” and not just write or theorize about it. Let Brass Ring Consulting Group be your guide.

For history buffs...

Brass Ring Consulting Group originated in 1993 when the two founders (Nathaniel Devereux and Chris Martin) wrote their first business plan. Nathaniel was running his business after recently finishing-up at the University of Southern California’s School of Music, and Chris was finishing his studies in the Entrepreneurial Studies program at USC Marshall School of Business. What started as a college assignment—writing a business plan—turned into something much bigger.

Their Business Plan went on to win USC’s coveted “Best Business Plan” award. But while most students wrote a fictitious Business Plan for their final assignment, this plan was destined for the real world, and raised $1 million in funding for their first venture together as business partners (a television production company that provided entertainment news to such clients as Fox Broadcasting, NBC, ABC, CBS, MTV, VH-1, and Univision).

Prior to working together, the founders spent years as businessmen and entrepreneurs. Chris had founded a computer systems consulting company and worked with clients such as Xerox, ARCO and various small businesses. Nathaniel came from an entertainment, retail and fundraising background and was leading the sales department for a Los Angeles-based brokerage firm where he raised investment funding for a variety of projects (film and TV productions, oil & gas ventures, and for the brokerage firm itself).

After founding their first venture together, their success led them into several other ventures, including a digital distribution technology, a record label (distributed by EMI), a fine-dining restaurant venture with a Michelin Star Chef, a music TV network, a distillery and fine-food company, as well as an entertainment production and marketing company affiliated with international giant Universal Music Group and Vivendi Home Entertainment. There they worked closely with both new and established music artists (even Grammy® award winners) and oversaw numerous national marketing campaigns and product launches.
